Today i went for a walk in the fields in the snow. The first chance i've had to all week thanks to work. There's an old abandoned farm that makes me feel really sad whenever i go past it. It used to be humming with life, horses, cows, pigs, children playing on the swings in the garden. And now to see it all boarded up and falling apart. But even so, i'm still attached to it. I visit it every now and again to see how it's changed. I'd hate to see it get sold and built on. It's not exactly attractive as it is, but there are enough brand new housing estates around here. I'd love to restore it, to make it into something special again. But i know by the time i'd be able to afford that, it will have been knocked down. In the snow, it really is something special, it's so quiet and peaceful. Everything seems quieter when it's snowed, like the world just stops to appreciate the beauty and tranquility. It's like waking up in the morning, pulling back the curtains and seeing snow falling ....but hearing nothing. It makes me happy, i don't know why. But it just makes me smile. Walking down some well loved paths, following other people's footsteps long since gone, is just relaxing.
